For Ethical Dental, it is important to us to maintain our ethically run and values driven healthcare services in the Coffs Harbour community. On March the 21st, we take the time to celebrate World Water Day. The date is global, meaning worldwide we can recognise the importance of water, and the role it plays in our everyday lives. It is times like this we can appreciate our standards of living and give back to those who are not as fortunate.

The Role of Water in Dental Health

Water is a necessity for all humans, without it, we cannot survive. For our team, we see every day the important role that water plays for our oral health. Not only is water essential for us to brush our teeth. It hydrates us. Hydration is crucial in oral health, as a dry mouth is the perfect grounds for bacteria, and acid damage. Overall, drinking water also promotes many benefits. These include, fresh breath, reduces staining, flushes away sugar and acids and brings out the shine in those pearly whites!

What World Water Day Means to Ethical Dental?

This year, the theme for World Water Day is leave no one behind. The United nations have linked the theme to their Sustainable Development Goal 6. The target is to ensure availability and sustainable management of water for all by 2030. Keeping this theme in mind, Ethical Dental are honoured to have had the opportunity to donate funds to world vision. We have chosen to donate to their clean water initiative. The funds go towards assisting communities to install pumps that provide clean water for drinking, cooking and washing. The sad fact of the matter is, 2.4 billion people lack access to improved sanitation. It is days like this we are reminded of how lucky we are. We are grateful to be take part in turning the ride on the world’s water problems.

Closer to home, we are celebrating world water day by sharing our BPA free, reusable drink bottles with all our visitors to Ethical Dental that day. We hope this is a gift that keeps giving all year round!

World Vision – Water and Sanitation

As we know, water is life’s essential ingredient and their goal is to provide these basic necessities to the communities that need it the most. Not only do they raise funds for: the building of wells, boreholes, water tanks, toilets, taps and sewerage infrastructure, but they use funds to educate and motivate communities about the importance of sanitation and better hygiene.
