The most common oral surgery we perform is tooth removal. As dentists, we’re keen to save teeth, but sometimes, the damage to a tooth is too extensive for us to treat. In these situations, tooth removal may be necessary and we will do everything that we can to make this a comfortable experience and smooth healing process.
Wisdom tooth removal
When do my wisdom teeth need to come out?
Not everyone has wisdom teeth, or needs their wisdom teeth removed. Some common reasons that wisdom teeth need to be removed include:
- Poor angulation
- Damage to the surrounding teeth
Generally, wisdom teeth come into the mouth at around 18-25 years of age, but this can vary from one person to the next. Most wisdom teeth can be removed comfortably in the clinic using local anaesthetic. If wisdom tooth removal is anticipated to be difficult, we will usually recommend you see a specialist oral surgeon, and have your wisdom teeth removed under a general anaesthetic.
Please note: we have a transparent fee policy. Our fees are published on our website so that our patients can make a fully informed decision.
