About Us

Ethical Dental and Orthodontics aims to establish a precedent for ethically run, values-driven healthcare services in our community. We strive to provide a comfortable, supportive and professional environment that will allow our patients to receive the highest standard of oral healthcare and for our practice to remain a cornerstone of support for oral and general health initiatives in the Coffs Harbour region.

Our practice is built on generations of dental knowledge being passed down from Ian and Bill Nevell, to John and Theresa Nevell, and now to Sam and Kate. We truly care about what we do, the people we treat and the community in which we live. An incredibly enjoyable aspect of our practice at 166 Edinburgh Street is to look up and see yachts sailing past, waves rolling in and the occasional whale. It is a great part of the family oriented practice which has existed since 1947.

We believe in the principle that being a health care provider is a privilege, and the trust placed in us is not only to be earned, but to be continually strived towards. As such, we maintain a continual focus on the values that guide our professionalism and ethical patient care.

Building Trust for Life-Long Healthy Smiles

Having a positive and trusting relationship with your dentist is one of the best ways to ensure life-long oral health, so we make an exceptional effort to ensure our littlest patients are excited to come back! This means never rushing, focusing on education, and utilising the latest preventative and clinical technology to ensure any treatment is comfortable.

Little minds learn and respond to new situations differently, so at our practice we ensure we engage with patience and empathy. We use a structured, research based approach to oral health education that ensures your child’s Oral Health knowledge is always growing.

What's Old Is New Again

The roots of our practice are in family dentistry, and while this was once common across the industry, the past few decades has seen a shift away from this model of care towards a large, corporatised clinic based approach. While this is convenient for some patients, we believe this can lack the personal care and warmth that a true family dental practice can provide. That’s why we designed our practice like a home, to make visiting the dentist like visiting a friend.

As families grow and change, so do their oral health needs. This is why we provide comprehensive care for children and adults of all ages with an emphasis on prevention. Our dentists Dr Kate, Dr Theresa, and Dr Sam have wide ranging and complementary clinical skills that will ensure your family is always in safe hands.
